About The MTBH Association Inc

The Manjimup Trail Bike Hub Inc was established as an incorporated association in January 2019. Its objective is to support the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub to become the region’s main destination for trail bike riding by doing the following:

  1. Working with the land managers and Manjimup community to manage, maintain and develop the Hub concept, the trails and trailheads;
  2. Encouraging people to volunteer to help build on the Hub and its work;
  3. Providing direction for the ongoing maintenance, development and management of the Hub;
  4. Raising revenue for the development, maintenance, management, sustainability and promotion of the trails, trailheads and facilities;
  5. Promoting and encouraging people to visit the Manjimup region and use the trails and contribute to growth in the local economy;
  6. Guiding and promoting desired rider behaviour;
  7. Providing, and helping people who provide, services and facilities for people who want to use and who use the trails.

OUR VISION

Manjimup is a place where trail bike riders feel welcomed and have a high-quality trails experience exploring the forest. It is a favorite regular destination for Western Australian riders, and a ‘must-do’ experience for riders outside the state.

OUR MISSION

Manjimup will have an international reputation as a pioneer in trail bike adventure-tourism and as a location offering excellent adventure bike routes and trail bike trails. It will provide a genuine trail exploration experience for riders and families.

The Manjimup community and economy will appreciate the benefits brought to the town and Shire through this initiative and will be proactive and innovative in developing new services. Riders will show their appreciation for the trails and facilities by respecting the environment, engaging in volunteer trails maintenance work and supporting the local economy with their custom.

The not-for-profit Association will manage, maintain and develop the Hub concept, the trails and trailheads. For the sustainable management of the Hub, it seeks to raise revenue and promote the Hub to drive visitation to the region. The Association’s committee consists of local and regional volunteers and business owners passionate about trail bike riding and the economic prosperity of the South West. Our current committee is:

Chairman’s Message:

I was born and raised here, and continue to reside in Manjimup as a third-generation builder with our family construction business.

Motorbikes have always been a part of my life. Motorcross and enduro riding consumed any spare time in my teens. I then had a short hiatus with sometime away at college, later returning to resume working with my father and following my passion for riding and exploring our regions backyard.

The idea of the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub came to me following an annual riding event held by the Manjimup Motorcross Club. The well-known “Broke Inlet Ride” is organised to leave Manjimup through to Broke Inlet, with the entire ride ridden only on tracks and trails, travelling through scenery that would normally never be seen by a road-going tourist.

I spent 8 years on Manjimup Shire as a Councillor and fought hard for the last 2 years of my term to show there was a genuine need to provide riding trails for motorcycles.

Whilst they were familiar with mountain bike, horse and hiking trails, it was difficult to envisage a need for motorcycles. I was met with resistance from all levels of governance but with a lot of persistence, and another two years, this idea became a part of their agenda. However, I discovered the challenge was only just beginning!

Nothing in this process has been easy. As of 2024, it has been 9 years of working with Federal, State and Local Government regulations, along with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and a vast number of other stakeholders.

Nevertheless, light is at the end of the tunnel, and thanks to Government grants from Federal, State and Local Government, and the support of the Shire of Manjimup, this dream is becoming reality.

If you’re reading this, it would undeniable to say you have no interest in Trail Bike riding; this ultimately would be the reason you are on this site!

It is my mission to develop the Hub Trails Centre as a focal point for our town and a destination for all trail riders, bringing awareness to our surroundings with many and varied trails for differing skill sets, educating on the unique bio-diversity and environmentally sensitive areas of our region, and showcasing the many of sights, facilities, services and experiences to be gained through riding, eating, sleeping and supporting this avenue of adventure tourism in our Shire.

The Manjimup Trail Bike Hub is for all. We invite you to enjoy our region and our hospitality, and we encourage you to be actively involved in looking after our environment for future generations.

As this project comes to fruition, you are our honorary ambassadors of the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub.

We welcome all of you to our back yard!

What type of riding do you enjoy most?

I began riding bikes in 2007, mainly road riding. I became more adventurous as time went on and wanted to see more out of the way places, so off road has now become part of me.

Why is this project important to you?

Manjimup is surrounded by tall trees and I believe the tracks down here are some of the best in the country. I became involved with MTBH to spread the word and share this spectacular area with all who want to see it.

Riding & Professional Experience

I’m also a horse rider, so I get to enjoy the trails at a slower and quieter pace.

What type of riding do you enjoy most?

Adventure riding & trailbike riding (trails and single tracks)

Why is this project important to you?

I’ve been in the off-road/enduro scene for a while. I’ve always dreamt of a planned and challenging trail from Perth to Manjimup that has the blessing of landowners, similar to Bib track and Munda Biddi trails. I love the South West bush and really enjoy sharing it.

Riding & Professional Experience

Is there a life outside of riding? Former multi-time Enduro state champion, 8 times competitor and gold medal Australian 4 day Enduro, 4 time competitor International 6 day Enduro and Silver medal winner, organiser and coordinator for numerous Enduro’s and organised trail rides, founder of the Capel 200 trail ride, Member of state government advisory committee advising Minister for Local Government on Off Road Vehicle areas, Committee member Recreational Trailbike Riders Assoc, Board director of Speedway MC Club WA, Former CEO Motorcycling WA.

What type of riding do you enjoy most?

Originally a competition Motocross and Enduro rider and in recent years enjoying multi day and new destination Adventure Bike Riding.

Why is this project important to you?

A fully resourced and functional trail bike hub in Manjimup will tap into a significant cohort of recreational motorcycle riders in Southwest WA.
The activity facilitated by the hub will not only provide a destination and purpose for those engaged in trail riding but will also deliver measurable activity and economic benefit to the tourism and service provider businesses in the region.

Riding & Professional Experience

If only time permitted more riding! However teenage children, managing a construction company and maintaining a farm in the Preston Valley utilises my time. Although, an occasional overseas Adventure Ride seems to be able to be accommodated!

What type of riding do you enjoy most?

Off road adventure rides, Enduro Type trails and single tracks.

Why is this project important to you?

I am originally from Manjimup, am a motorcycle enthusiast and want to help provide a much needed outlet for the motorcycling community, whilst also providing opportunities and growth for Manjimup and the surrounding communities through this unique tourism opportunity.

Riding & Professional Experience

Started my own business 2004 in Perth. In 2011 took the business national with warehouses around Australia. Sold to an International company in 2023.I'm still involved in business and I love developing people and ideas. I own a farm in the Manjimup region and have been spending more time working on this recently. I try to ride off road at least once per week.

What type of riding do you enjoy most?

I love riding single trail with some technical features, mostly non-competitive single day loops in the South West or in the escarpment. I’m also a keen solo adventure rider, completing Alaska to Argentina in 2022, several trips in Northern India and the Gibb River Road in 2020.

Why is this project important to you?

I bought my son, Ben a Chinese pit bike when he was seven years old, and was dismayed that there were so few legal riding spots in WA apart from competitive events. Once he outgrew the Pinjar area we were limited in the legal, challenging areas to explore, despite the state having huge amounts of suitable forestry areas.
My dream is that Ben will able to take his children riding, teaching them trail-craft in a legal and sustainable way.

Riding & Professional Experience

I am a mechanical engineer who spent too much time flying around the world and not enough time enjoying the ride. More recently I started at Scitech designing and building Science exhibits to inspire and educate children. I have been a member of the RTRA for 15 years and joined the committee in 2022 aiming to increase membership and hence gain more influence in political decision making. I represent the Recreational Trail Riders Association through the MTBH, and ensure good communication between the MTBH and RTRA.
